This is a mixed media photoencaustic piece that hints at the story of a young woman's secrets. The base layer is an image of a young woman in period dress, using a fan and slightly smiling at the viewer. Some motion blue, layers including text, and texture have been used to hint at a story of the secrets of her heart.

What is the inspiration behind your piece?
I have secrets; you have secrets; she has secrets. Even as she hides her thoughts behind her fan, her smile hints that she longs to share them with me. If I have patience, perhaps she will speak with me. If I gaze long enough, perhaps I will find her secrets in her eyes. Combining my photographs with encaustic wax techniques, I weave elements into visual stories with textures and layers of meanings. The story starts in my imagination, then I release it to be kindled in the fire of the imaginat
