4^th Annual ‘Best of the Best’ Juried Art Exhibit & Competition

Description of Exhibit: Marion Cultural Alliance (MCA) invites emerging and seasoned artists to participate in our fourth annual fine art exhibit and competition featuring the ‘best of the best’ of Ocala.

This year’s prompt is “Through the Looking Glass”, in celebration of our 15^th annual Applaud the Arts; A Whimsical Wonderland! MCA’s annual celebration of local arts organizations and community art leaders with MCA cultural grants and arts awards.

Other Awards include: 2 Honorable Mentions, The DLM recognition award, purchase awards from MCA Board Members & community sponsors, MCA staff recognition awards, Community Choice awards, and more!

This is a prize winning exhibit and entry fee is required to participate!

CALL TO ARTISTS: October 2022 - "Through the Looking Glass"

Who’s Eligible: MCA Artist Members (Must be a member to enter. But anyone can join Online at mcaocala.org/membership for only $30 per year)

Entry Fee: $25 for up to two (2) entries | $15 for one (1) entry

Mediums: We invite and encourage artists ages 16+ working in any media to participate.

Entry Guidelines:

All entries are to be submitted digitally via ArtCall no later than Sunday, September 25, 2022. No physical or mailed in submissions will be accepted. Artists must follow the online application process and include:

• Artists’ Contact Info (Name, phone, address, email, and social media handles/website)

• A brief statement about your art for each submitted piece, specifically answering the prompt "My Art is Inspired By ___"

• High-res images for each entry in JPG, PNG or PDF format showing the full piece.

Each artist may submit two (2) pieces for consideration. All work must be original; no giclee or reproductions. Only entries which adhere to the theme will be accepted.

Suggested size per piece is up to 40“ in any direction. However, if 2D artwork is oversized, only one (1) submission will be considered.

All 2D work must be gallery ready, properly wired with suitable hanging mechanisms and framed, or created on a gallery wrapped canvas. All 3D work must be assembled by the artist before it is accepted.

All work that is shown must be for sale, split 70% to the artist and 30% to MCA. MCA’s proceeds help further our mission to Champion, Convene and Create opportunities for the arts in Ocala/Marion County, Florida.

Selection of work is at the discretion of the Gallery Director & Gallery Committee. We reserve the right to reject work for the exhibition that does not meet MCA’s requirements or does not match the intent of the exhibit. • Artists’ Reception: Friday, October 7, 2022 (6 - 8 pm) | VIP Artists & Sponsors Only: 5 – 6pm

• Exhibit Dates & Location: October 7 – 29, 2022 at The Brick (23 SW Broadway St.)

• Drop Off Date: Monday, October 3, 2022 (10am – 4pm)

• Pick Up Date: Tuesday, November 1 (10am – 5pm)
