Watercolor – Oil – Acrylic
I first studied art as a college student at LSU but it didn’t become part of my life until after I had raised my family and retired from teaching. Retirement gave me the opportunity to pursue my love of painting. I began my study of watercolor while in New Jersey and continued after moving to Arizona. While there I expanded my studies to include Oil and Acrylic. The vibrant art community in Scottsdale was exciting and motivational. I began showing and selling my painting at local shows.
While there, I worked with the Alzheimer’s Associations Memories in the Making Program. I facilitated an art class for a group of about 12 residents for 8 years at Encore Senior Village in Paradise Valley. We had yearly Art Exhibits and Auction of residents’ work. I was commissioned by the facility to create a mural in an outside garden area which involved the resident’s participation. This was a great source of joy and pride for the residents. I also presented a Memories in the Making workshop for the Alzheimer’s Association to foster awareness of the program.
After moving to Ocala, I became a member of FAB, VAS and MCA. I received Second place awards at the FAB’s Santa Fe College Show in 2017 and 2019. A VAS merit award in the Best of the Season show in 2018.

StatementArthur Conan Doyle was and still one of my favorite authors. His Sherlock Holmes mysteries are the inspiration for my paintings.
